This contemporary new-build Mews house is a young entrepreneur’s first home. He contacted me during the first lockdown to design and furnish it.
Despite the challenges in sourcing items, we completed the project in record time and had great fun as it was a complete blank canvas.
In the living room, we put in a surround sound system, blackout curtains and controllable lighting so the mood could be easily changed from relaxed living room to a cinema or games room.
The aged iron metal panelling on the far wall creates an interesting backdrop for the TV as well as being a striking feature in and of itself. The sideboard below the TV, in a dark grey lacquer to blend with the metal panelling, is designed to house gaming equipment. Plush yellow Togo Armchairs from Ligne Roset complete the look, providing a striking contrast with the darker furniture and side panelling.
In addition, we designed and installed a home office,
guest bedroom and new wardrobes.
The kitchen had been installed relatively recently so we decided to keep it, making only small changes.
We added dark grey panelling to accent the breakfast bar, tall units and shelving around the sink; fitting a fun new geometric tiled splashback; and putting in a Quooker tap with CUBE for instant boiling water, chilled filtered and sparkling water – a must for an entertainer! We also designed a sleek, contemporary new bar area under the stairs.
