Balham Bathrooms
In this Victorian terraced family home full of original features, we were asked to integrate the two bathrooms with the existing interior.

The first was a family bathroom. A dark green wallpaper with colourful birds, which our client fell in love with, inspired this scheme. We designed a playful family bathroom with a freestanding bath and shower over a traditional Victorian tiled floor. A simple white metro tile with contrasting grout for the walls was used and we painted the bath the same colour as the walls – Farrow and Ball’s Duck Green.

The brief for this bathroom was to create a fun family bathroom
We put in Lefroy Brooks unlacquered brass fittings throughout, which will age and develop a patina over time.

For a timeless look, we chose a vanity unit with antique brass hinges, handles and classic honed Carrara marble worktop. The tilting mirror makes it practical for both children and adults. To finish, the Roman blinds make it a warm, inviting space, perfect for relaxing!

The brief for this bathroom was for a grown up, luxurious design
For the more luxurious bathroom, we designed a large walk-in shower with a seat. The brass towel rail is positioned perfectly for grabbing a warm towel when stepping out of the shower.

As with the family bathroom, we chose Lefroy Brooks unlacquered brass fittings throughout, which will age and develop a patina over time. The soil pipe was awkwardly located and couldn’t be moved so we designed a vanity wall with studwork to conceal it. To the right of the vanity, we mirrored the studwork and put in some hidden storage – always a plus! On the floor, the tumbled Calacatta herringbone tiles feel like velvet on your feet. To contrast this, we chose a hexagon marble mosaic for the shower area. The finishes here are softer and warmer, creating a perfect grown-up bathroom with a boutique hotel feel.
